Most of
my time is devoted to the
e-Disclosure Information Project, giving objective
advice on all aspects of electronic disclosure.
I
provide litigation support advice to law firms and
their clients:
-
Advising on e-Disclosure, both
technically and strategically
-
Training and education in eDisclosure
skills and practices
-
Helping firms who are new to
eDisclosure
My
experience breaks down
into these main headings:
Strategic and Anticipatory Advice
-
Strategic advice on implementing litigation
support
-
System identification
-
Acting in the capacity of litigation support
manager
-
Project management
-
Litigation readiness, both generally and for
a specific case
Case Management
-
Helping lawyers
advise their clients as to their Disclosure obligations
-
Managing the
collection of potentially disclosable electronic documents
-
Compliance with
Court rules and Protocols
-
Representing
firms in negotiations with opponents as to data exchange
-
Advising as to
requests made and received for formal case management
-
Ad hoc advice and
involvement as required
Data Handling
-
Hands-on data
preparation for first-pass review
-
Involvement to whatever extent required in the preparation of
Disclosure lists
-
Conversion of documents data for giving and receiving electronic
Disclosure
Document Retention and Litigation Readiness
Anticipating litigation or regulatory investigation
Devising litigation readiness strategies
Planning for timely and efficient document production
Liaison with UK and US lawyers
Preparing for litigation holds
Long-term document retention policies
My experience first as a
lawyer and then as a developer means that I can advise both as to the business,
legal and strategic levels and as to the minutiae of data-handling. Much of my work has been for big firms on
document-heavy cases, and specifically cleaning up "difficult" documents
data which is not fit for automated conversion or exchange. That is not just
a free-standing technical skill, but is also a qualification for wider
involvement in all aspects of litigation support.
The
e-Disclosure Information
Project is sponsored by the companies whose logos appear
on this page. I effect introductions to providers of
software and services but do not get involved in their
selection. I do not take any commissions or other payments
which depend on the outcome of a selection process.
